DESCRIPTION:This course will empower you with diverse skills necessary for understanding theoretical depth, but also a practical application on how to use the outdoors and adventure as mediums to facilitate thinking and behavioural change.\nAdventurous experiential learning is all about creating positive learning experiences that involve calculated risks (physical, emotional, and cognitive). The goal is to optimise learning so that it can be applied in real-life situations.\nIn this course, students will become learning facilitators. They will gain a deep understanding of experiential adventurous learning through education, development, and therapy. They will engage in various real and simulated adventure activities to reflect on their experiences and apply their learning in different real-life situations. This course includes relevant research from South Africa and around the world. It will equip participants with a wide range of skills needed to understand the theoretical and practical aspects of using the outdoors and adventure as tools for bringing about changes in both thinking and behaviour.\nWho is this course for?\nThis course is for any person working with youth, community school teachers, human resources development officers youth pastors, or any person looking for a qualification in the Facilitation of Adventurous Experiential Learning.\nYou will have 3 Qualifications at the end of this course:\n1. Adventure Institute Facilitation of Adventurous Experiential Learning.\n2. Facilitate Learning in a variety of Methodologies NQF5 (SAQA Accredited).\n3. ARA Level 2.\n\nMode: Practical\nTime: One week\nAgenda: \nMonday\nTheoretical Foundation\nWhole-brain Facilitation: understanding yourself, and other people, inclusive relationships, diverse thinking, and strategies for how to work with different clients.\nUnderstanding neurocognitive: To understand ethical conduct and its application in business, community and adventure practice.\nUnderstand diverse teaching and learning theories. To understand foundational theories like Adventure, Experiential Education, Challenge Education, Risk, and many more as important components of an inclusive discipline.\nTuesday\nProgramme and person\nAdventure Characteristics: Participant, place, group, activity, facilitator\nAdventure Applications: how to distinguish when and how to utilise the best Recreation, Education, Development and Therapy for Adventurous outcomes.\nWednesday\nProcess\nFacilitation: how practitioners become facilitators utilising adventurous experiences in an adventurous setting, reaching the client’s objective.\nReflection: the theory of analysing and looking back and looking into experiences to make more sense of them.\nThursday\nApplication of theory\nIce breakers, problem-solving activities (nature, art, drama, etc).\nArtificial Wall Climbing, Archery – Inspection, presentation, application, safety.\nFriday\nSelection of activities\nTechnical and Facilitation application – initial assessment.\n \nThis qualification is recognised by:\nThis course is compiled from relevant SA and international research and will be aligned with an NQF 5 Qualification in Facilitation. \nYou will have 3 Qualifications at the end of this course:\n1. Adventure Institute Facilitation of Adventurous Experiential Learning\n2. Facilitate Learning in a variety of Methodologies NQF5 (SAQA Accredited)\n3. ARA Level 2\nGraduates will have the opportunity to register for other Adventure Institute modules at a discounted rate.\nThe cost includes full accommodation and catering for 4 nights 3-7 July.
